Schools of Tomorrow, Jawar
Building a learning conducive environment means to deeply understand what it takes for the space to optimally work, not just in the design or layout but also visually. These schools are rejuvenating the idea of how government schools are viewed and are a new step towards providing quality education for all, regardless of their gender or socio-economic background.
The interiors were designed with a focus on every detail no matter how small. Colours are an extremely important part of building a spatial experience and in the case of the Jawar School would have a direct impact on a child’s psycho physiological and behavioral aspects. Especially exposure to colours like blue, orange and yellow can positively impact the attention span and retention ability of a child at school.
The main community spaces within the school, like the corridors, ramps and staircases, were especially chosen to have striking colours that would create an environment that the children would want to come to every day. The main ramp that goes through all floors is given a shade of red and the staircases are in a fun sporty yellow.

The hierarchy of classrooms is spread across the floors, with the older students situated on the upper floors. The Ground floor is allocated for the youngest, the nursery, KG and 1st & 2nd classrooms and so colours were also heavily used in demarcating spaces and catering to different age groups. The corridors on each floor were given different colours.

- Second Floor Corridor Columns - (Yellow Marigold-7862 AP)
The inner layouts have been given clear signages and tactile flooring on all floors so as to be easily accessible for all students.
Another key aspect while designing the interiors in the school was to provide modular furniture in the classrooms and labs. Ergonomically designed furniture that will promote good posture and provide the students’ with physical comfort, ensuring a learning conducive environment where students can thrive academically and holistically.
