‘Desa’ is a Balinese term meaning “a cluster of homes forming a village,” representing a harmonious and community-driven experience, exactly what the resort encapsulates.

The resort is a modern luxury experience, deeply inspired by the architecture and hospitality elements of the Balinese culture. At its core, the design reflects the growth of a tree, where spaces unfold naturally like branches extending into the landscape. The entrance serves as the ‘root,’ welcoming guests into a grand, open reception area framed by striking bamboo trusses, setting the tone for a biophilic journey ahead.

Bamboo, a locally abundant and sustainable material, plays a pivotal role not just structurally but aesthetically. The open-roof structures, massive trusses, and flowing forms create a rhythmic harmony between built space and nature, and a visual experience from the minute you walk in.

The core of the project came from our strong commitment to sustainability and the resort’s strong desire to create a nature-filled experience for its visitors. The entire structure is designed to be flexible and transient, with elements that can be dismantled and relocated without disturbing the land’s natural ecosystem. This ensures an environmentally responsible while allowing for future adaptability.

By merging traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge parametric design, Ameya Desa Resort is a testament to the elegance of nature and the limitless possibilities of modern architecture.

The resort follows the Balinese principle of Tri Mandala, dividing spaces into three harmonious layers. The layout of the resort has been divided into 3 main zones, public, semi-private, and private.

Public Realm: The journey begins with an inviting entrance porch that leads to the reception, dining area, and an organic free-flowing swimming pool designed to integrate with the natural landscape. The pool is more than just a visual delight; it offers shaded alcoves and private nooks under the tree canopy, creating wonderfully intimate and connected moments of relaxation within the arms of nature.

Semi-Private Spaces: Transitioning inward, the resort features the first 2 types of suites which provide the perfect balance of social interaction and personal space. The design formulated from respect for the site’s existing trees and ensuring they were incorporated into the design.

Private Sanctuaries: At the innermost part of the site are the exclusive VIP villas with private swimming pools that are built to redefine luxury and privacy. These four-bedroom villas offer complete privacy engulfed in nature and through bamboo-clad exteriors, open-air courtyards, and lush, uninterrupted views of the serene surroundings.
